Jeses Stali’s legal team complained on Thursday that the banker had been subjected to “public humiliation” during a London court case for his links to Effe Epstein, which the former Barclay boss said his marriage was in danger.

The US banker insisted that “it is not here to mislead anyone” in the legal challenge he brought to overturn the ban and the penalty that the UK authorities imposed him for allegedly allowing Barclays to mislead the regulator of his relationship with his deceased sex.

Stali, 68, testified a fourth day at the London Tribunal, who heard this week that he had sex with one of Effe Epstein’s employees in a New York apartment, which belonged to the brother of the deceased financier.

His lawyer Robert Smith KF told the court that the banker’s legal team was “very worried” after lawyers acting on the financial conduct body asked Stali for the consensual meeting.

“I crossed the Atlantic to be with this tribunal,” Stali said later under cross -examination by the defender of the financial conduct. “I could stay home.”

“I was honest that I was in danger of marriage in the last few days.”

CCA, which banned Stali from holding high positions in UK finances in 2023, said during the proceedings that he was “not seeking to be embarrassed” by the banker and that he had not accused him of being involved in or knowledge of Epstein’s crime.

The guard case is that Stali minimized ties with Epstein and was not honest enough with officials.

However, Smith said that “public humiliation of Mr Stali” over a sexual meeting in Manhattan “hit the press” and that FCA “must be realized”. “The damage was done when that question was asked,” he said.

Lei-Ann Mulkahi CC, for FCA, put on Wednesday in Stali that he had “had sex with a woman” in the apartment of Epstein’s brother on the Eastern 66th Street? To which he replied “yes”.
