Oscar Valdez will host a 10 round light race against Ricky Medina in his hometown of Mexico next month next month.

The highest rank has not revealed which network, if any, will show the Valdez-Medina fight. Their seven -year contract with ESPN expired last month on July 26. They still have to look for a new broadcasting deal.
Former two-division world champion Valdez (32-3, 24 Ko) has not fought since December last year, when he was suspended in the sixth round by WBO Super Feather Weight Champion Emmanuel Navarrete.
Organizer Bob Arum says Valdez will look for his third world title. He does not mention which of the champions he targets at 130. Other champions Lamong Rach Jr, Eduardo ‘Sugar’ Nunez and ‘Shaquie Foster would also be a brutal battle for him.
A decisive test for board
“Oscar Valdez is a proud soldier, and this is a great opportunity for him to return home and prove that he still has what he needs to fight 130 pounds,” said Supreme Ranking Bob Arum. “Oscar has been the highest rank since she became professional, and we are in his corner when he tries to become a three -time world champion.”
Medina (26-7, 10 Kos) has lost two of the last three battles and may not even match this version of the board. However, with his youth, he could give Oscar a real test. We do not know what Valdez has been in the tank this 13 -year career. He has lost three of the last five battles, beating Navarrte twice and Shakur Stevenson once. They were all one -sided things.
Can the Board recover the fame of the past?
The board should consider moving back down to 126 and trying to regain the success he had in this weight class. This is where he started his career and fought at the highest level. He is not strong enough or skilled to match with one of the champions at the age of 130.
