Neraj Chopra appeared a winner in the classic Neraj Chopra in Bengaluru, securing the top position with the best throw of 86.18 meters, achieved in his third attempt. Juluulius Jego took second place in Kenya, while Sri Lanka’s tracking of Rumesh finished third. Chopra started the match with a foul on his first attempt, but restored the calm with a strong performance in the second round, crossing the 80 -meter mark.
Chopra retained the lead through the fifth round by throwing 84.07 meters, despite a foul in the fourth. His third attempt-impressive effort of 86.18 meters-recently recovered the first place from Rumesh. Before that, he briefly led in the second round by throwing 82.99 meters.
After the victory, Chopra said, “… The last few days have been difficult for me. Also made me feel a little strange that the match is on my behalf. I am happy to hold the medal and trophy from the first edition of home …”
Neraj Chopra Classic 2025’s throwing order was released ahead of the event, with India Sahil Silval opening the match and Neraj Chopra threw it last, in 12th position. All athletes were officially familiar with viewers, with Chopra getting the loudest applause – a huge reception that visibly moved the Olympic champion.
Prior to the event, Chopra expressed that he was not burdened with expectations, confirming that his primary focus was on delivering his best performance. Held at Sri Kanterava Stadium in Bengaluru, the event featured some of the world’s top launchers in the world and delivered a series of exciting moments.
The match was jointly organized by JSW Sports and Olympic gold medalist Neraj Chopra. Initially it was due to take place in Punchkula, Harajana – Chopra’s home state – the event was later moved to Bengaluru. The place, Sri Kanterawa stadium, also serves as a home field for the Indian Super League (ISL) Club Bengaluru FC, owned by JSW Sports.
Neraj Chopra Classic was awarded “golden status” of world athletics, classifying it among elite global events and field events. Among Those Competing Alongside Chopra Were Curtis Thompson (USA), Martin Konecny (Czechia), Julius Yego (Kenya), Cyprian Mrzyglod (Poland), Luiz Mauricio Da Silva (Brazil) (Sri Lanka), Thomas Roehler (Germany), Sachin Yadav (India), Sahil Silwal (India), Rohing Jadav (India) and Jashwir Singh (India).
Originally scheduled to compete, Grenada Anderson Peters and Asian Games in India, silver medalist Kisore Enaena, both were excluded due to injury. Paris Olympic champion Arshad Nade of Pakistan also did not participate. Earlier this year, Neraj Chopra referred to the absence of Nadezha following the tragic terrorist attack on Pahalgam, which resulted in the death of 26 tourists.
