India has confirmed a significant government agreement with the government with France to buy 26 maritime raiders in Rafale, a contract worth more than 63,000 kronor. The Cabinet Security Committee, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the agreement, which is expected to be formalized soon.
Defense sources told TV in India today that this procurement includes 22 single and four variants of twins, complete with fleet maintenance, logistical support and staff training packages, as well as indigenous components for production.
Rafale’s sea planes are intended for deploying indigenous aircraft carriers in India and will significantly improve the navy’s air power at sea. Rafale Marin, a version based on the carrier of the fighter Rafale, is known for its advanced aircraft, weapons systems and operational versatility.
Deliveries to Rafale’s marine fighter jets are expected to start in about four years, with the Navy expected to win the first series by the end of 2029, and the full fleet is likely to be triggered by 2031. Sources said these aircraft would replace the aging of the MIG-29K fleet, which works from Indian aircraft aircraft carriers, insikramdity and indigens ins vikrant.
This strategic acquisition is processed through the intergovernmental route, providing accelerated delivery time frames and provided support for the maintenance of French manufacturer Dassaul Aviation. Rafale M is designed for carrier-based missions, which have enhanced landing equipment, arrest hooks and a reinforced air frame for carrying out short operations for takeoff, but arrested recovery operations (Stobar)-a technique used to launch and restore air carriers. In addition to the Rafale-M deal, India is ready to strengthen its underwater combat capabilities by building three additional Scorpen class submarines under the project-75. These submarines will be built in partnership with shipbuilders of Mazagon Doc Limis and the French naval group. Meanwhile, other key maritime procurement projects are progressing as expected, highlighting India’s focus to boost its maritime defense capabilities.
