Organizer Eddie Hern says his fighter Shakur Stevenson will not be able to run around the ring on Saturday night, as William Zepeda goes after him on July 12th.
Hernine has been wrong in the past, and I suspect he will silence his ears to suppress Boos if WBC lightweight champion Stevenson (23-0, 11 Kos) chooses not to stand and fight against Challenger Zepeda (33-0, 27 Kos).
The Turkish Alalshikh has put their Tom and Jerry directive on Saturday’s map to fight. If Shakur chooses to ignore him, it will be interesting to see the Turks’ face as he watches.
Hearn: Shakur can’t run

If he pays them millions for entertainment, he should expect them not to run around the ring, stinking on the joint while the fans boo. He wants his actions to handle well, attract a good number, and fans are praised as a value.
The Turks cannot do this if he allows fighters to turn the battles on Tom and Jerry’s things. So, he’s not wrong to wait for Shakur to fight. Ideally, do not call him back if he turns the fight against William Zeped into the track meeting. Stevenson has received a warning, and if he chooses to ignore it, do not call him back. I would do it if I were Turks.
Turks require action
“You just don’t intend to make these fighters change their style because the Turks want an entertaining fight. I think this is a fight where Shakur will really show their greatness,” said Hern.
If runners, such as Shakur and Devin Haney, refuse to change their styles, the Turks can leave them and focus on just entertaining. They would change their way if the Turks left them from their invitation list that I would have done years ago. You cannot expect Stevenson to change how he fights because he is not physically suited to fighting in his pocket with murderers at the age of 135 or even at the age of 130.
