Canada’s digital service tax came into force in June 2024 and requires large businesses, whether they are based in Canada or elsewhere, pay 3% tax on earnings earned by engaging internet users in Canada if they meet certain conditions.

Trump said the administration would notify Canada as part of a “next seven -day period” for which the tariff would pay to work with the United States
The president in his job added that Canada is a “very difficult country to trade in” and claims Canada imposes tariffs up to 400% of dairy products in the United States.
The defect in the trade talks followed the meeting of the two G7 leaders earlier this month, and Carney said they had agreed to round up a new economic agreement within 30 days.

The United States is Canada’s largest trading partner, while Canada is the largest importer of US exports and one of the first three sources of US import.
