Transport Secretary John Duffy is discussing the Federal Aviation Administration and the modernization of air traffic control in an exclusive interview.
Business Fox has confirmed that Tim Arel, chief operating officer of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Traffic Organization (ATO), resigns after four decades of federal service.
Arel led Atho, who oversees the nation’s air traffic control system through a period of growing overview and recent high profile security problems.
According to the statement from Jaa, “Tim Arel, Atho’s chief operating officer, chooses to retire as part of Dot’s voluntary delayed resignation program.”
The agency said Arel had already planned to retire by the end of 2025, but would remain for several more months to support the smooth leadership transition.

Arrell’s departure comes when FAA faces constant pressure to resolve security problems in the US airspace system. Jaa recently replaced the whole air traffic Control Team Management of Reagan National Airport (DCA) after a physical altercation in the control tower and a fatal accident in January.
