“If China loses one eye, the United States would lose both”: Finfluuener warns as Trump escalates the tariff war

As global markets and tariffs are increasing, Fennai -based financial planner has offered a strict reality check. “Strange as it may sound, the United States needs more than China than China needs,” D Mutukreshan wrote to F. “If China loses one eye, the United States will lose both. Most of the world would be partially blind.”

His warning comes after the US-China trade war escalated to an unprecedented high level.

Less than 48 hours after Beijing struck a retaliatory 34% tariff for US goods, Donald Trump responded with a sharper blow – announcing an additional 50% tariff for all Chinese imports. This pushes the US total tariffs to Chinese goods all the time high by 84%, and when combined with a 10% global White House tariff, China is now facing 94% tax imports in the United States.

Trump announced the announcement at 11:30 am (9pm Ist) through his social platform, the truth social. Referring to China as a “tariff abuser”, he said:

“Yesterday, China issued retaliatory tariffs of 34 %, moreover, their already record -setting tariffs, non -monetary tariffs, illegally subsidizing companies and mass manipulation of long -term currency, despite my warning that every country avenges the United States …

Then he issued a final ultimatum:

“If China does not withdraw 34 % over their already long -term abuses of trading by tomorrow, April 8, 2025, the United States will impose additional tariffs on China by 50 %, in force on April 9.”

The White House has also confirmed that all trade negotiations with China will be halted, while talks with other nations – those who have not avenged – will move forward.

“In addition, all talks with China will be suspended about their sought -after meetings with us! Negotiations with other countries, which have also requested meetings, will start to take place immediately.”

Global stock markets and oil prices have been plunged in the last 72 hours, following Trump’s decision to impose reciprocal tariffs on all countries taxing US exports. “These are, as the name suggests, only reciprocal – which means we are doing, what they do,” he said during the previous briefing.

Prior to Trump’s latest escalation, Beijing warned that such measures would cause a “painful trade war” that “would not benefit anyone”.
